MinDA and DTI-ARMM Undertakes Information Session on Facilitating Trade

 

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) in partnership with the Department of Trade & Industry-ARMM (DTI-ARMM) will undertake an Information Session on Facilitating

Trade specifically on the areas of Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) on March 9, 2017 at Em Manor Restaurant, Cotabato City. About fifty (50) participants from different government agencies, private sector stakeholders and non-government organizations are expected to attend.

 

The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao being in the best position to take full advantage of the economic benefits of BIMP-EAGA in view of its strategic proximate distance, religious, as well as cultural affinity with their EAGA neighboring countries; the main objective is to increase trade, tourism and investments in the sub-region by way of capacitating the local stakeholders to develop their skills in International Trade. It also aims to equipped concerned ARMM officials with sufficient knowledge to engage in foreign trade business and make public and private stakeholders in ARMM have a better understanding of the import/export rules, regulations and procedures.

 

The said undertaking is a joint effort of the new MinDA Chair Datu Abu Khayr Alonto and DTI-ARMM Regional Secretary Atty. Anwar A. Malang to strengthen the ARMM’s engagement in the BIMP-EAGA.
